Thelott, 12 ff.n.ch., 408 pp., 10 ff.n.ch., 32 planches numérotées gravées sur cuivre dont une dépliante; vélin ivoire, titre manuscrit au dos (reliure de l' époque). Poggendorff, II, 838; de Backer-Sommervogel, IV, 1058; DSB, XII, 210-211. Édition originale. Schott décrit dans cet ouvrage un instrument de mesure universel inventé par son maître le Père Kircher, le Pantomètre. Schott était l'élève puis le collaborateur le plus proche de Kircher à Rome entre 1651 et 1655. Les 32 planches reproduisent différentes sortes de polygones mais également l'instrument en question. Exemplaire légèrement bruni. Provenance: inscription ancienne sur la page de titre (Collegi Hospital ?). First edition of one of the most comprehensive works of the period dealing with all kinds of measuring operations, including surveying. Many of the instruments described were preserved in Kircher's museum.
