CHARDIN, Jean.
Travels to Persia and other places in the East. Paris, Le Normant, 1811. 10 volumes in-8 (200 x 125 mm) and an atlas in-folio (510 x 321 mm); rooted calf, smooth ornate backs, red and green title and tomaison pieces, golden pamper framing the dishes, golden shield in the centre, golden slices (bound P.r Bradel S.r de Derome). The best edition of Chardin's trips. It is established by the great orientalist Langlès, based on ancient editions and supplemented by a Notice on Persia from the earliest times to the present day. The atlas is illustrated with an engraved portrait, a folding map and 83 plates. Very beautiful copy, admirably bound by Bradel, successor of his uncle Derome le Jeune and bearing, gilded in the centre of the dishes, the imperial eagle with the mention Imperial University. Competition of the high schools of Paris.
