"A very rare and highly sought-after book, the edition having been partly destroyed following a trial" (Carteret). This collection of six short stories is the result of a work that Barbey d'Aurevilly began in 1850, whose main themes are love, adultery, murder, revenge, and resentment. Without the covers, slightly exposed binding, if not beautiful copy.
