MARTIN DU GARD, Roger.
Notes on André Gide 1913-1951. Paris, Gallimard, 1951. In-8 (184 x 117 mm) of 15 pp., 2 ff.n.ch.; brown morocco, beige glossy paper dishes set with a gold net, top plate with author, gold title and date, smooth back (P.L. Martin, 1955). Original edition. Copy number 8 of the 10 on Imperial Japan (first large paper). It was at Gallimard's house at the very young Nouvelle Revue française that Roger Martin du Gard published his novel Jean Barois, which allowed him to make friends with André Gide. These notes, published shortly after the death of the author of Les Nourritures terrestres, evoke one of the most enriching literary encounters. Beautiful copy of the rare print on large paper, well established by Pierre Lucien Martin.
