Mirabilis liber Paris, Engelbert de Marnef, 4 September 1523. Small in-4 (190 x 127 mm) of LXXXVII ff.ch. (last one missing with printer's brand); cold stamped calf (old binding). Bechtel, M-356; Fairfax-Murray, French, 382; Moreau, III, 550. The first Latin part contains: 1) texts of the pseudo Methodius; 2) Prediction, by Lichtenberger; 3) Vaticinia de summis pontificibus, attributed to Joachim de Flore; 4) fragments of the prophecies of various authors, in particular Catherine de Sienne and Savonarola. The second part, in French, would announce, according to a legend copied by all bibliographers, the French Revolution of 1789" (Bechtel). Of this extremely rare USTC edition, only two institutional copies are located, both in France (Carpentras, municipal bibl.; Angers, municipal bibl.). Very restored binding with renewed back and guards; copy washed but stained, and with some restorations in the margins.
