Le Cabinet satyrique or Collection of the piquans & gaillards verses of this time. Taken from the cabinets of the Sigognes, Régnier, Motin, Berthelot, Maynard, & others of the most noteworthy poets of this century. Sans lieu, printed at Mont Parnasse, 1697. 2 volumes in-12 (100 x 870 mm) of an engraved frontispiece (included in the pagination), 358 pp., 5 ff.n.ch. for volume I; an engraved frontispiece, 330 pp., 3 ff.n.ch. for volume II; red morocco, triple gilt fillet framing, smooth decorated spine, gilt edges (contemporary binding by Derome, unlabelled). A fine edition of the famous Satyric Cabinet, which has been a great success since its first publication in 1618. It is "a remarkable and well-known collection of the best licentious poems of the time, and which also contains a fairly large number of works from the time, Regnier's Satyrs, the Muses gaillardes and even the Satyrs bastardes" (Gay-Lemonnyer). This collection contains pieces by Régnier, Sigognes, La Ronce, Motin, and others. Some pages are scorched, if not a fine copy bound by Derome.
