A large porcelain Pessah seder plate. Alsace, 1886 - Lot 52
A large porcelain Pessah seder plate. Alsace, 1886 This very decorative plate manufactured by the Trousseau & Cie workshop, which was active between 1885 and 1894. It was decorated and offered as a gift on the occasion of the wedding between Leon Picard and Rachel Netter on the 16th of June 1886. The names of the bride and groom are inscribed in French and in Hebrew. The three essential themes of the Seder night - Pessah, Matza and Maror - are inscribed in the centre, together with the traditional wish to celebrate the next year’s Seder evening in Jerusalem.
