Kiss of Peace in carved ivory representing the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian on a checkered background. Under an ogival arcature with floral rampants and topped with a fleur-de-lys, the young saint, his hands tied to a tree to which he is leaning, is framed by two executioners. Flanders, 15th century Height: 14.3 cm - Width: 7.5 cm - Weight: 114 g (handle missing, fleurons glued back on the left rampant) Since the Middle Ages, the lands of Flanders and Artois have been home to numerous archers' brotherhoods of which Saint Sebastian is the patron saint.
