Bronze PROCESSING CROSS. Christ with elongated head, long beard, locks of hair resting on the shoulders, prominent abdomen, long perizonium at the waist decorated with superimposed chevrons, parallel legs with juxtaposed feet resting on a suppedaneum; cross with tri-lobed ends bearing the quadrilobes of the Tetramorph: the bull of St. Luke, the eagle of St. John and the angel of St. Matthew; titulus; socket with spherical knot. Rhine Valley, second half of the 12th century Height: 50 cm - Width: 26.5 cm; Christ, Height: 15.7 cm - Width: 15.1 cm (missing quatrefoil of St. Mark, wrought-iron reinforcements on the reverse side, socket old but later) This cross can be compared with the cross in the Jantzen Collection in Bremen, which bears a Christ of a very similar typology see (P. Bloch, Romanische Bronzekruzifixe, Berlin, 1992, cat. III B 7).
