GUILLAUME APOLLINAIRE.
L'Hérésiarque & Cie. Paris, P.-V. Stock, 1910. In-12: Bradel-style lavaliere half-maroquin with corners, smooth spine, untrimmed, gilt head, cover and spine retained (Stroobants). First edition, dedicated "To Thadée Natanson, these phantasy philtres." One of 21 copies on Hollande paper (no. 7), the only deluxe edition. A collection of 23 picturesque and sulphurous short stories. This second book published by Apollinaire consecrated the author in the eyes of the general public, thanks in particular to Stock's efforts to obtain the Goncourt Prize. He received three votes in the first round (Elémir Bourges, Léon Daudet and Judith Gautier), but was preferred to another collection of stories, De Goupil à Margot by Louis Pergaud. A very good copy.
