Two texts appear here for the first time: Le Cygne de Pau (1924), an essay on Mallarmé, and Mysticisme, prière et réalisme catholique (1931): "this essay contains attacks on the Claudelian reading of Rimbaud and the theories of Abbé Bremond" (Étienne-Alain Hubert, Essai de bibliographie des écrits de René Crevel, nº 283). 14 original engravings. 1 wood by Arp, 2 drypoints by Hans Bellmer, 1 drypoint by Valentine Hugo, 1 lithograph by Wols and 9 etchings by Camille Bryen, Oscar Dominguez, Max Ernst, Alberto Giacometti, S.W. Hayter, Wifredo Lam, Man Ray, André Masson and Joan Miró. Limited edition of 150 copies on Rives vellum (nº 65), signed at the head by all the illustrators, with the exception of Dominguez and Wols who died before publication.
