Salvador DALI.
La Femme visible. Paris, Éditions surréalistes, 1930. In-4: paperback, silver paper cover, printed dust jacket filled with red crystal paper. First edition. Limited edition of 204 copies: one of 135 on arches (no. 106). Beautiful composition by Salvador Dalí in the frontispiece; heliogravure retouched with a burin by the painter. The illustration also includes a photographic portrait of Gala at the head of the book and 6 full-page reproductions. The collection contains The Rotten Donkey, in which Dalí lays the foundations of his paranoid-critical method, The Sanitary Goat, the poem The Great Masturbator and Love. A fine copy; the very fragile red paper cover is in good condition. The insert written by André Breton and Paul Eluard and the announcement leaflet are enclosed. (Mason, Vrai Dalí/fausse gravure. L'oeuvre imprimé 1930-1934, Geneva, 1992, p. 16: "The page drawn with a feverish pen and transferred to copperplate for La Femme visible has all the appearance of a pure heliogravure. However, this frontispiece is very discreetly reproduced with a burin here and there").
