A moral lesson. Poems. Paris, Gallimard, 1949. In-12: paperback; red half-leather Leroux folder and slipcase. First edition. Copy on publisher's paper, complete with headband reading, "I regret nothing: I move forward." Autograph letter signed on the first blank page: to my beloved mother, Paul Eluard Attached is a postcard from the poet's mother addressed to her son, "Mr. Eug. Grindel fils," February 29, 1908. She sends this cryptic message: "Be good and eat without shouting. Your mother." Also enclosed are two highly corrected autograph fragments of the beginning and end of the preface entitled, "I Confess." 1 page large in-4 and 2 pages in-8.
