[André GIDE].
C.R.D.N. No place or date [Bruges, The St. Catherine Press Ltd, 1911]. In-12 : midnight blue jansenist morocco, spine ribbed, grey box lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, folder, case (Pierre-Lucien Martin). First edition of Corydon, published anonymously and not put on the market. Unique edition of 12 copies, on Hollande van Gelder laid paper. Through these dialogues with a former comrade named Corydon, André Gide had the courage to attack a tenacious prejudice, which had sent Oscar Wilde, the mentor of his youth, to prison. And he allowed several years to pass before daring to sign Corydon, which he saw as his "most important book". A perfect copy. From the libraries of Louis de Sadeleer and Michel Bolloré, with ex-libris.
