HENRI MICHAUX.
Un certain Plume. Paris, Éditions du Carrefour, 1930. In-12 : yellow box, smooth spine with title in large black box mosaic letters, on the boards black mosaic decoration of pieces of box and ostrich skin, yellow box lining, beige suede endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, yellow paper cover preserved, folder, case (Leroux, 1991) First edition. It was published by Éditions du Carrefour directed by Jean Fourcade. Gaston Gallimard, with whom Michaux had a contract, sent Michaux a warning message: "I believe you are announcing Un certain Plume to the Editions du Carrefour. Our contract provided that you reserve all your works for us." Michaux complied, and Jean Fourcade was forced to send a large part of the print run to the scrap heap, falling out with the "traitor." A second edition, with the addition of Lointain intérieur, was published in 1938 by Gallimard. Of the first edition, about three hundred copies are said to have survived. Un certain Plume was Michaux's favourite of his books. One of 30 copies on hollande Pannekoek (no. XXXVII), the second paper after 10 japon. A perfect copy.
