In-8 : fuchsia box, smooth spine, reproduction of nine photographic portraits of a little girl in colour set in the boards and framed with a green box strip in relief, pink suede lining and endpapers, untrimmed, gilt head, cover and spine preserved, folder, case (Leroux, 1989). First edition of the French translation. One of 86 copies on vellum pur fil Lafuma-Navarre, the only large paper (no. 9). Rejected by all American publishers, the English work was first published in France in 1955 by Olympia Press. This first French translation, by Eric Kahane, was published by Gallimard four years later. Remarkable talking binding by Georges Leroux.
