T.E.C. Amphitheatre of the Sorbonne. Next conference. Abbot Picasso will speak about the painter Morel. Admission: 50 francs. The proceeds will go entirely to the work of reconstruction of churches in Spain. No place or date [1946]. Set of documents including 2 drawings on letterhead of the Chamber of Deputies [254 x 195 mm], 1 model [270 x 209 mm], 1 autograph leaflet small in-8. Model of the famous poster against the abbot Morel, published on the occasion of his conference at the Sorbonne in 1946. The mock-up, in black ink with the mention "cliché" in place of the drawing, is accompanied by two drawings in ink and pencil, on the letterhead of the Chamber of Deputies: sketches of a full-length portrait of Picasso in cassock, wearing a hat bearing the sickle and hammer. He is holding a book entitled "St Paul Eluard The Bible". The drawings show some differences with the printed version. Also enclosed is a draft of the text in pencil, with variants, on a small in-8 sheet. The poster was published on the occasion of the tribute dedicated to Picasso by Abbé Morel, on February 1st and March 15th 1946. The conference was accompanied by projections by Paul Haesaerts as well as a reading by Paul Eluard. The poster is traditionally attributed to Jacques Hérold, sometimes to Victor Brauner. Two proofs of the printed poster are enclosed.
