Knight's Cross of the Legion of Honour Silver star with five button-pointed branches enamelled white and surrounded by oak and laurel branches in green enamel. The whole surmounted by a finely chiselled and enamelled imperial crown. The gold centres are circled with their legend in blue enamel. On the obverse, dextrogynous Napoleon on a radiant background. On the reverse, the dextrogyratory imperial eagle, with tiny flashes on the legend. Presented in its rare original box from the house of Ouizille-Lemoine, gilded with the iron of a legion of honour of the same model, and bearing a later mention of an attribution to "de Bavre-Mericourt". Second Empire period (1852 -1870). APC. Frédéric-Gaston de Bavre (1823-1894), captain of the imperial gendarmerie, knight of the Legion of Honour on 4 September 1860.
