Black patina bronze plaque depicting Christ emerging from the tomb between the Virgin and St John with four angels holding the shroud in the background. Dated on the tomb 1511 Southern Germany, after Hans Multscher (c. 1400 - 1467), early 16th century, 1511 Early casting, slightly late. Height : 9,1cm - Width : 7,4 cm Works consulted : J. Pope-Henessy, Bronze from the Samuel H. Kress collection, Phaidon, 1965, n° 334 ; G. Bekker, Europaïsche Plaketten und Medaillen vom 15.bis zum 18. Jahrhundert, Grass Museum Leipzig, 1998, n° 241, p.104. Several copies of this plate are known (Cleveland Museum of Art, Museum of the City of Berlin, National Gallery of Art of Washington, Grass Museum of Leipzig, Kress Collection...), some of them used as a kiss of Peace, none of them bearing a date which confers a great rarity to the plate proposed here.
