In-8 of 1 frontispiece, 1 engraved title, XIV pp., (1) f. of errata, 624 pp. 38 plates out of text: plum jansenist maroon, ribbed spine, gilt fillet on the edges, decorated inner borders, untrimmed, gilt head (All). First edition. It is illustrated with 40 steel engraved plates by Phiz, alias Hablot K. Browne, one of Dickens' favourite illustrators, including a frontispiece and title. Charles Dickens' masterpiece, a partly autobiographical novel which the author considered his "favourite child". A good copy. The front cover of the fourteenth issue is bound in at the head. From the library of J.F.M. Browne, with armorial bookplate. Spine slightly faded. Small scratches to the binding.
