Large in-8, half red morocco with corners, spine ribbed and decorated, untrimmed, white illustrated cover and spine preserved (Mercier, successor of Cuzin). First edition. A very fine edition, illustrated with 383 vignettes in the text or at the head and 25 plates outside the text on China paper pastedown, including the frontispiece, all wood-engraved after Tony Johannot, Baron, Français and Celestin Nanteuil. The white cover is illustrated, spine and covers, with drawings by Tony Johannot, engraved by Brévière. Two added delivery covers and prospectus. From the libraries of Laurent Meeus (Wittock, n° 178) and Charles Van der Rest (1964, n° 3) with their bookplates.
