Large in-8, half black morocco with corners, spine ribbed with gilt fillets, untrimmed, gilt head, case (A. Devauchelle). First edition. 17 engravings out of the text and numerous woodcut vignettes in the text after Horace The shorter plates out of the text have been mounted on tabs. The plate by Bellangé showing Napoleon on the battlefield of Waterloo has been replaced by another one illustrating the same subject, woodcut and printed on chine volant after a drawing by Jacque himself executed after a painting by Charles-Auguste Steuben One of the very rare copies on Chine, impeccably preserved at all margins. As it should be, the engravings outside the text are on chine applied on vellum.
