Large in-8, black long-grained morocco, spine decorated with gilt rocaille irons with the imperial eagle, untrimmed, cream illustrated cover and spine preserved (Mercier sr de Cuzin). First edition. 17 plates on chine appliqué and numerous woodcut vignettes in the text after Horace Vernet and Hippolyte Bellangé. A superb copy, bound in booklet form, with its cover in mint condition, enriched with the very rare Avis au relieur, in a smaller format, printed on blue paper, with the illustrated prospectus (4 pages) and 17 (out of 18) illustrated covers of the delivery.
