BÉRANGER (Pierre-Jean de).
Oeuvres complètes. Edition illustrated by J.J. Grandville. Paris, Fournier, 1836. Three volumes in-8, red half-maroquin with long grain and corners, spines decorated, untrimmed, covers and spine preserved. First edition. Portrait engraved on steel by Hopwood, facsimile of a letter from Béranger to Grandville and 120 wood-engraved plates out of text after Grandville (100) and Raffet (20). A superb copy, at full margins, containing all the illustrations in double state, on white paper and on chine volant (the portrait on chine glued). The very rare pink general covers, complete with spines, all three dated 1837, are preserved in perfect condition. Bound in fine the delivery cover of the 120 vignettes, also dated 1837, printed on pink paper, titled Album Béranger-Grandville, as well as the blue cover of the Album Béranger, by Grandville, an album subsequently published gathering 84 of the engravings of the suite in chine. Copy cited by Carteret (III, p. 80), from the library of Antoine Vautier (I, 1971, n° 39), who attributes the binding, unsigned, to Mercier père.
