Portrait of the author by Pollet, engraved on steel by Auguste Blanchard, title with a vignette reproduced on the cover and 32 plates out of text engraved on wood by Jardin after Tony Johannot, Raffet, Bida, C. Nanteuil, etc. "The poet and composer Bérat, born in Rouen in 1800, was famous for his songs which exhale the fresh perfumes of cider and new hay" (Carteret, III, p.86).
