REYBAUD (LOUIS). Jérôme Paturot in search of a social position. Edition illustrated by J.-J. Grandville. Paris, Dubochet, Le Chevalier et Cie, 1846. (with) Jérôme Paturot à la recherche de la meilleure des républiques. Edition illustrated by Tony Johannot. Paris, Michel Lévy frères, 1849. Together two works in two large volumes in-8, half lavaliere morocco with corners, spines richly decorated with gilt and mosaic patterns in green morocco, untrimmed, illustrated covers and spine preserved (Noulhac). First editions. The first volume is illustrated with 32 out-of-text compositions, including a frontispiece, and numerous in-text woodcut vignettes after Grandville. The second volume comprises 30 out-of-text compositions and about 160 woodcut vignettes in the text after Tony Johannot. Superb copies in uniform mosaic bindings by Noulhac, in all respects perfect. The important illustrated covers are here in absolutely impeccable condition. The one of the second volume, printed by Dondey-Dupré, could be of second edition (cf. Carteret, III, p. 517). Second volume enriched with three one-sheet leaflets, each illustrated with a different vignette. From the libraries of Laurent Meeûs (Wittock, 448 and 450) and Raoul Simonson, with their bookplates.
