"Increasingly sought after, and rightly so, it includes in first edition: part of the Fleurs du mal, the Petits poèmes en prose, Les Curiosités esthétiques (except for the two salons), l'Art romantique (except for Gautier and Wagner)" (Clouzot). Copy with all volumes under the correct dates - copies of the first volume dated 1869 are known. "A single copy on ordinary paper, with all its volumes under the first dates, in good quality contemporary bindings, is rare, and rare enough to merit a high price" (Clouzot). Copy having belonged to the sculptor Ernest Christophe (1827- 1892) whom Baudelaire admired. He is the dedicatee of the pieces XXI Les Masques and CXXI Danse macabre. The sculptor himself made corrections in pencil to this copy. Provenance: Ernest Christophe (ex-libris dated 1875) - Édouard Ducoté (ex-libris).
