History of the reformation of the church of England. Translated from the English by Mr. de Rosemond. Geneva, Samuel de Tournes, 1686. 2 parts in 4 volumes in-12 (150 x 92 mm) of 28 ff.n.ch., 431 pp. for volume I; 551 pp. for volume II; 36 ff.n.ch., 575 pp. for volume III; 534 pp. for volume IV. Ivory vellum with flaps, smooth spine with handwritten title, edges speckled (period binding). Brunet, I, 1409. First edition of the French translation of this important text. Gilbert Burnet (1643-1715), a Scottish theologian and historian, had to settle in the United Provinces following his violent attacks against Catholicism, which earned him the disgrace of Charles II of England and James II of England. A very good copy.
