Limited edition of 380 copies. One of 350 on vellum (copy number 140) with the plates signed and justified in pencil. The five plates illustrate the texts: Le Siamois; Le petit Chat Noir; Capucin et Adimah; Simplette; Fastagette. Jacques Nam (pseudonym of Jacques Lehmann) began his artistic education at the École des beaux-arts in 1898. His talent as a draughtsman opened the doors of Parisian publishers and he provided illustrations for humorous magazines such as Le Rire, Le Sourire, Le Bon Vivant, etc. In addition to Colette's Les Chats, Nam illustrated Mirbeau's Dingo, Farrère's Les Civilisés, and other works by famous writers.
