Marbled calf, smooth spine decorated, red and lemon morocco title-piece and tomes respectively, red edges (period binding). Brunet, II, 424; Quérard, II, 339. First edition. Crévier (1693-1765) was a historian and professor of rhetoric at the college of Paris; a pupil of Rollin, he continued his Histoire romaine. After a historical overview of the classical antiquity, Crévier gives details on elocution, memory and pronunciation. Good copy, small worm work on the lower spine (vol. II).
