In-4 (232 x 181 mm) with an engraved title, 6 ff.n.ch., 200 pp. (misquoted 182), 4 ff.n.ch. of table. Soft ivory vellum, smooth spine with handwritten title (contemporary binding). First edition of this important treatise which contributed to the standardization of heraldic rules in the 17th century. It is divided into 5 parts: the origin of coats of arms; the definition of coats of arms and the differences between the terms 'coat of arms' and 'blazon'; the discourse on nobility; the symbolism of heraldic furniture; the rules of composition of coats of arms. A well-preserved copy with its engraved title dated 1648 and the table. A well-preserved copy with a large part of the coats of arms and blazon coloured with stencils.
