Round brown tortoiseshell box mounted in 18K (750) gold chased with interlacing, the lid inlaid with a presumed oval miniature portrait of the Dauphin Louis-Charles de France, future Louis XVII (1785-1795), aged about 4 years, in a pigeon's throat costume possibly for the mourning of his brother Louis-Joseph de France (1781-1789). Paris, 1774-1780. Discharge by Jean-Baptiste Fouache. D.7,1 cm. Miniature : 3,9 x 3,3 cm. Exhibition : Musée du Petit Palais, Paris, 1900.
