Large in-8, contemporary binding in brown half-chagrin with corners, percaline boards decorated with gilded fillets, spine with nerves decorated with a set of fillets, edges jaspées. First printing. Ten portraits of actresses engraved on steel and numerous woodcuts in the text; framed pages historiés in black, presenting animated scenes with characters, animals, grotesques, or ornaments in colors. Nine chapters, each devoted to a work: Les Huguenots, Giselle, Le Barbier de Séville, Le Diable boiteux, La Norma, La Sylphide, Don Juan, Ondine, La Juive.
