Huser). First edition. It is dedicated to Thadée Natanson who had published six of the stories of L'Hérésiarque in the prestigious Revue Blanche; at a time when Guillaume Apollinaire was unknown. Collection of twenty-three fantastic stories influenced by Hoffmann, Poe, Villiers de L'Isle-Adam or Gérard de Nerval. ONE OF 21 NUMBERED COPIES ON HOLLANDE PAPER (N° 15), THE ONLY DELUXE EDITION. Superb copy in a mosaic binding and lined by Huser. It is enriched with a beautiful autograph letter signed by Apollinaire addressed to André Billy: André Billy (1882-1971) had just reported on the publication of L'Hérésiarque in L'Écho littéraire du Boulevard (January 15, 1911): the letter was published in Apollinaire vivant. "Your criticisms are not unfair and it is not I who will find exaggerated your praise and the honor you give me when you mention my book at the head of your column. However, I only know French pretty well, Italian comes next, and as for my erudition of which I am accused, it is undoubtedly an aspect of my ignorance, and in my next book I will try to be more learned without appearing to be."
