Piquant autograph sending signed : to the abbot // Mugnier // who forgives me // always. // with my // tender gratitude // Jean Cocteau // June 1921 Personage of the Parisian social and literary life, the abbot Mugnier (1853-1944) was introduced in the world of the Letters by Joris-Karl Huysmans. Confidant of Jean Cocteau whom he met in 1912, he remained linked with him all his life: "You know that I do not like to bring a book into the world without having it baptized by you", he was to declare. Cocteau also alluded to his friend without naming him in Le Potomak where he is referred to as "a priest who helps me."
