Drawings. Paris, Librairie Stock, 1924. In-4 [276 x 223] of [2] ff, 272 pp : black cloth boards, smooth spine, rhodoïd. First edition. Dedicated to Picasso, the album contains 129 captioned drawings by Jean Cocteau, "graphic poet", including portraits of Picasso, Radiguet, Satie, Stravinsky, Anna de Noailles, as well as Souvenirs du Ballet Russe ou le Mauvais Lieu. Important autograph letter signed to the leader of the surrealist movement: My dear Breton // I do not write anymore. It is therefore // an unhappy reader who // wishes to tell you how much your // book has enchanted him, taken him // away from his pain. // Believe in my // deep // gratitude // Jean Cocteau // 1924 Breton and Cocteau had a difficult relationship, the former even referring later to the latter as "the most hateful being of this time. In 1924, the book that "enchanted" Jean Cocteau seems to be Clair de Terre, the collection published in November 1923. Spine faded.
