FREUD, Sigmund.
Drei Abhandlungen zur Sexualtherorie. Leipzig, Vienna, Franz Deuticke, 1905. In-8 [239 x 158] of (1) f., 83 pp. paperback, in a modern burgundy cloth slipcase. First edition. Three essays dealing respectively with "sexual aberrations," "infantile sexuality," and "reconfigurations of puberty." This is one of the author's most important works, after L'Interprétation des rêves, and the most influential on sexuality. A PERFECTLY PRESERVED COPY, PARTLY UNCUT. It is enriched with a typed letter from André Gide, with autograph addition signed (April 20, 1939). "Homage and expression of personal gratitude" to Sigmund Freud, Gide notes: "The great prospector has dislodged from the shadows where they remained a number of hideous ghosts and evil larvae." The collection of tributes in which this letter was to be published never saw the light of day. The document comes from the collection of Philippe Helaers and was presented at the exhibition Are you a doctor sir? organized in homage to Sigmund Freud at Unesco in January 2007, under the aegis of the École de la Cause freudienne.
