The Seven Seas. Translation from English by Maud Kendall and Daniel Rosé. Engraved portrait by Joseph Sima. Paris, Librairie Stock, 1924. In-12 [190 x 140] of (2) ff., 61 pp, (1) f. : blue calf, boards decorated with two horizontal bands dyed in orange passing over the spine, and arabesques lamées d'argent, title and name of the author in cold with a stylus on the first board, framed in blue calf inside, decorated with five gilt fillets, lining and painted endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved (J. Kauffmann - E. Horclois - Louise Denise Germain) . First edition of the French translation. It is illustrated with a composition by Frans Masereel on the cover and a full page portrait of the author engraved on wood by Joseph Sima. One of the first 27 numbered copies on old japon à la forme (n° XIII). "One finds on the endpapers of this binding, with a very simplified continuous design, motifs similar to those of Cocteau [cf. above nº 1384] but crossed by vertical orange bands, echoing the decoration of the boards" (Fabienne Le Bars).
