Shortly afterwards, he had two decisive encounters: with the painter Bernard Buffet, whose companion he became, and with Jean Giono, with whom he lived for a time with his lover at Manosque in the bastidon, now disappeared, adjacent to the garden. Of the novelist, Bergé said: "What I owe him is unspeakable." Two other works by Jean Giono are attached, one dedicated to Pierre Bergé, the other to Bernard Buffet: - Lundi.
