In-16 [149 x 91] of 171 pp. and 12 pp. of catalogue : blue half-maroquin with corners, spine gilt, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved (Canape). First edition, dedicated to Marcel Schwob. It is illustrated with two portraits of the father Ubu by Alfred Jarry. Famous play by Alfred Jarry, performed for the first time on December 10, 1896 on the stage of the Théâtre de l'OEuvre in Paris "in front of a scandalized public which assisted, without understanding it well, to a double birth: that of a myth and that of a certain modern theater" (En français dans le texte, 1990, nº 322). A complete copy of the Mercure de France catalog of publications. It is enriched at the head with a charming autograph visiting card addressed to Alfred Jarry: 16 January 1896. Jules Renard who is delighted by the luminous burlesque of Ubu, thanks friendly Mr. Alfred Jarry. Spine slightly rubbed. Leaves as always browned and brittle. The introductory leaf where the business card of Jules Renard is fixed is detached.
