First edition : it was printed at 300 copies Celebration of the city of Marseille through 49 photographs by Germaine Krull, reproduced in heliogravure and commented by André Suarès, originally from Marseille. Autograph signed on the false-title: To // my dearest // samaritan // Gabriel Cognacq // as I give you everything // that I do, I want you // to have also // these little things // like the // HAÏ-KAÏ // of the // Jap // on Nephew of the founder of La Samaritaine, Gabriel Cognacq (1880-1951) succeeded to the head of the department store, inheriting the collection of modern works and part of the paintings and old drawings of his aunt and uncle. A patron, he supported artists and writers, including André Suarès who paid tribute to him in 1934 in a text illustrated and printed by Louis Jou. Beautiful copy in modern binding. First edition printed at 680 copies, illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author by Ouvré and woodcuts in the text by Siméon: one of 470 copies on paper of Rives. Missing at the back, cover slightly soiled.
