In-8 [197 x 130] of (2) ff, xiij pp, (1) f., 200 pp, (2) ff : white vellum, gilt fillet on the boards, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets, gilt head, untrimmed (period binding). Limited edition : copy on laid paper. Copy offered by Oscar Wilde to the British painter Lawrence Alma-Tadema. It bears this autograph ex-dono signed on the false title: To Alma-Tadema, // in admiration of // the great Beauty of // his art, from // Oscar Wilde Of Dutch origin, settled in France for a while, Lawrence Alma-Tadema (1836-1912) settled permanently in England in 1870, becoming a British subject three years later. Beautiful copy in English binding of the time. It is preserved in a modern blue half-maroquin slipcase.
