Small in-4 of 102 pp, (1) f., light brown half-maroquin with corners, spine with gilt title, gilt head, cover and spine kept (Honnelaître). First edition. One of 133 numbered reprinted copies on Lafuma de Voiron laid paper, this one of the eight out of trade (numbered E). The best short story of Gobineau's first literary period, published in serial form in the National in 1847. - Les conseils de Rabelais. Unpublished short story, presented by A.B. Duff. S.l. (Paris), Mercure de France, s.d. (1962). In-12 square of 56 pages, paperback, printed cover. First edition of this short story published in the Courrier Français in October 1847, shortly after Mademoiselle Irnois. One of the 10 first copies numbered on vellum of Holland. A new, uncut copy.
