Former mentor of the Duke of Reichstadt, the Count of Prokesh-Osten was Austrian ambassador to Constantinople from 1855 to his death in 1876. - Letters to two Athenian women (1868 - 1881). Edition at 1 600 numbered copies. Copy with the address of Bernard Grasset (label on the title). Appointed minister plenipotentiary in Greece in 1864, the peak of his diplomatic career, Gobineau embellished his stay with the sisters Zoé and Marie Dragoumis, sisters of the future prime minister Stéphanos Dragoumis, with whom he maintained until the end of his life a voluminous and remarkable correspondence of some 270 letters, among which the selection presented here (96 letters). - Persian Letters, published by A.B.
