Jules BARBEY d’AUREVILLY (1808 – 1894)
Poems by Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly with commentary by himself. (Bruxelles, impr. de J. H. Briard), 1870. Large in-8 of (4) ff., 70 pp. in full dark green chagrin binding, three gilt fillets on the boards, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons in each box, inner lace, marbled edges. Second edition, printed at 72 copies, including two or three Hollande. This new edition, "prepared by G.-S. Trébutien", is enriched by him with comments extracted from Barbey's letters and two poems; it is printed by Poulet-Malassis hidden under the pseudonym of Insignis Nebulo. Published without Barbey's knowledge, always quarreling with Trebutien, it provoked his anger and the writer threatened to have it seized. A very nice copy in full contemporary chagrin. From the Heilbronn library with ex-libris.
