Edition largely original. Autograph signed on the false title: To Léon Hennique His devoted Emile Zola. Naturalist novelist and playwright, Léon Hennique (1850-1935) was part, one year after after having received Mes haines, of the group which composed the Evenings of Medan, with Alexis, Céard, Huysmans, Maupassant and Zola. Hennique published L'Affaire du grand 7. affair, the one concerning the captain Dreyfus, which was to separate him from Zola whose whose commitment he did not share.
