Changer chest in rosewood, violet, rosewood, brass and gilt bronze veneer. It opens with a lid concealing a compartment, and a front flap revealing six small drawers with rosewood inlays. The sides feature drop handles. It is adorned with a fine trim of brass plates, hinges and spandrels, highlighted with pinkish pastilles. The ensemble rests on a curved base embellished with a moulding, falls and goat hooves. Flanders. The chest dates from the late 17th century, the base from the 18th century with associated bronzes. This money-changer's chest was a luxury item for wealthy owners.
