Rectangular chest in carved, engraved, gilded and painted wo - Lot 2
Rectangular chest in carved, engraved, gilded and painted wood. The gilded top is engraved with wide acanthus scrolls, surrounded by a gadroon frieze. The front features a painted decoration with a red background, depicting a seated angel surrounded by acanthus scrolls. The projecting jambs are adorned with festoons surrounded by a frieze. The whole piece rests on a molded plinth, enriched with an acanthus frieze, and supported by feet adorned with masks. Northern Italy. Late 16th century H_68 W_147 D_57 cm Expert: Stéphane Pepe
