Jean GEOFFROY dit GEO (Marennes 1853 - Paris 1924) Two little Bretons seated, 1896 Oil on canvas, signed lower right H_31 ; W_38 cm This work is a study for L'Ecole primaire en Bretagne (1896), which Géo presented in 1897 at the Société des Aquarellistes français exhibition. Numerous works attest to his attachment to Brittany, where he frequently spent time and inspired numerous watercolors, some of which were transposed into engravings. Géo depicts childhood at its sweetest, through local customs and clothing.
