Théophile FRAGONARD (1806-1876) - "A hen for three roosters" - "a rooster for three hens" Pen and watercolor over graphite on paper, a pair H_15 cm W_10.5 cm On the back, headed certificate from the Milon-Ferret framing house in Bordeaux, dated September 10, 1930, attesting "that these two watercolors titled "Une poule pour trois coqs", "un coq pour trois poules" come from Fragonard's heirs and that these two watercolors are by Théophile Fragonard". Gilt and embossed label from the Milon-Ferret framing house in Bordeaux, probably dating from the 1930s. Provenance: - Remained in the artist's family until his great-grandson Jacques, who settled in Gironde in the 1920s. - Acquired, most likely from him, by M.Milon-Ferret, framer in Bordeaux. - Acquired from the latter by the current owner's grandfather Expert : Pierre-Antoine MARTENET
